U.S. CONFERENCE OF MAYORS – 2015 HOST CITY EVENTS


The following events are for all registered attendees of the 2015 U.S. Conference of Mayors in San Francisco, and do not require additional registration or special sign-up. Your U.S. Conference of Mayors credential will be required for access.

Welcome Gala

FRIDAY, JUNE 19
San Francisco City Hall
7:00pm – 10:00pm

To kick-off the 2015 U.S. Conference of Mayors festivities, Mayor Lee will welcome the mayors and their guests to City Hall for a spectacular opening night celebration. With City Hall decked out in glorious fashion, guests will enjoy fine California wines, and an array of California cuisine, representing San Francisco’s rich culinary tradition. Throughout the evening, guests will be entertained by San Francisco’s premiere cultural groups celebrity artists. For the finale, the mayors will be invited to join Mayor Lee the official City Hall lighting ceremony commemorating the San Francisco City Hall Centennial.

Sunrise Walk Across the Bay

SATURDAY, JUNE 20
The Golden Gate Bridge
6:30am – 8:30am

The mayors and their guests will have a chance to take a memorable morning walk across one of the world’s most iconic architectural treasures with spectacular views of San Francisco, Alcatraz, and the surrounding cities. Morning delicacies, juices and coffee will be available as the guests complete their hike across the Golden Gate.

Attire: Comfortable walking clothes and shoes, please dress in layers to stay warm

Color of Life Global Celebration

SATURDAY, JUNE 20
California Academy of Sciences
7:00pm – 10:00pm

The Saturday night festivities will take the mayor’s and their guests to the innovative California Academy of Sciences in the heart of Golden Gate Park. The party will have a offer a global theme with food stations and entertainment, showcasing the diversity of San Francisco and the City’s place as the “Gateway to the Pacific.” In addition to non-stop entertainment, guests will have an opportunity to enjoy the Academy’s spectacular exhibits, including a four-story rain forest, The Dark Universe planetarium, the new Color of Life exhibit, and one of the world’s most bio diverse aquariums. The science exhibits along with the museum’s environmental themes, LEED certification, and Living Roof will highlight two of the major themes of this year’s conference, technology and environmental sustainability.

Celebration of Faith and Community Service

SUNDAY, JUNE 21
Glide Memorial Church
9:00am – 10:00am

The mayors and their guests will have an opportunity to attend a service at San Francisco’s historic Glide Memorial Church. Under the leadership of Reverend Cecil Williams, Glide has been at the center of community outreach and social justice work for the past 50 years. Glide Memorial has the only program in San Francisco to provide three, nutritious meals a day, 364 days a year, to the city's poor, homeless and hungry. Their Glide Ensemble gospel choir is one of San Francisco’s most celebrated performing groups.

Bash by the Bay

SUNDAY, JUNE 21
The Embarcadero
7:00pm – 10:00pm

The Sunday night party will take place at a spectacular location on the Embarcadero, situated below the newly rebuilt Bay Bridge. The event will incorporate two of San Francisco’s most popular restaurants, Epic Roasthouse and Waterbar, with additional tastings from some of San Francisco's top chefs. Guests will have an opportunity to enjoy non-stop entertainment from San Francisco street artists and featured performers. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show on the bay.

Morning In the Park

MONDAY, JUNE 22
Golden Gate Park
6:30am – 8:30am

On Monday morning, early risers will have a chance to enjoy a walk through Golden Gate Park with guided stops at the Japanese Tea Gardens, the Botanical Gardens and the AIDS Memorial. The stroll will conclude with breakfast at the deYoung Museum.

San Francisco Tech and Innovation Tour

MONDAY, JUNE 22
Autodesk, Twitter and Uber
2:30pm – 5:30pm

The mayors will have a chance to visit three of the leading-edge high tech companies based in San Francisco. This afternoon excursion will provide a rare opportunity to see the new era of corporate work environments in action and experience presentations by corporate executives.

Year of the Ram Chinese Celebration

MONDAY, JUNE 22
Chinatown
7:00pm – 10:00pm

For their final night in San Francisco, the Mayor’s will journey to San Francisco’s Chinatown, the oldest Chinatown in North America and the largest Chinese community outside of Asia. The event will begin with a parade up Grant St. complete with lion dancers, dragons, and traditional music. The mayors will then enjoy a family-style Chinese feast at the Far East Cafe and Cathay Restaurants.
